A typical day at SmartyPup! Puppy Day Camp balances structure and flexibility to support safe, fun, reward-based learning.
Mornings focus on supervised play, social skills, obstacle work, handling, bite inhibition, and crate readiness, followed by a restorative nap. Pottying in the grassy indoor potty or outside.
Midday includes potty breaks, backyard play, training games, desensitization to everyday stimuli, and more life-skill practice, leading into an afternoon nap.
Evenings center on a smooth transition home, with staff sharing training highlights, social notes, and personalized tips, all while reinforcing gentle mouths and emotional regulation throughout the day.
🎉 Fun, safe, and reward-based learning environment for dogs and people!
Our schedule balances structure so puppies know what to expect and with flexibility so we can adjust for group energy, developmental stages, and individual needs.

☀️Morning Session
Structured Recess
- Morning introductions, supervised zoomies / play, and exploration.
- Puppies burn off “morning zoomies,” practice rules of engagement , and transition smoothly into the day.
- Option: Bring a blanket: The blanket must be labeled with their name. Choose one you’re comfortable with possibly going missing for a few days—it’s used for naps, comfort, and familiarity.
Structured Activities + Time to Cill and Chew
- Obstacle Training → stairs, tunnels, ramps = confidence, balance, and motor skills.
- Individual Attention → short tailored sessions to meet developmental needs:
- Handling & desensitization (ears, paws, brushing, novel objects).
- Bite inhibition (“Ouch, Hey! That Hurts!”) — practiced throughout the day, not just in drills. Puppies learn to take food and objects gently from hands without needing a cue.
- Crate practice and nap readiness.
- Impulse-control games and calm check-ins.
First Group Nap + Self-Soothe Time
- Mid-morning rest supports learning consolidation and emotional balance. Puppies sleep in cozy crates with white noise and calm supervision.
